15It's not my birthday for yet another week but I already got the best gift...
Some backstory:
You might already know I'm a massive Rob Hubbard fan. Lovely tunes, filled to the brim with nostalgia and childhood gaming memories... The Grand Wizard of SID music.
So, when this book was announced, I knew I had to get it. But... Realising the cost, including shipping and import charges, I made the hard decision to let it go. Not an easy one but hey, that's life sometimes.
But I got a friend - a dear friend who shares my interest in 8-bit shenanigans. He presented a gift to me yesterday. Not only he sneakily bought the book upon hearing me stating it's too expensive, he also started another mission: Pulling strings, spamming e-mails to convince Chris Abbott or Chris Wilkins to get it signed with a personal touch at Zzap Live 😃 And oh my lord, they all pulled through! This shows how much friends matter. And it shows how friendly our retro gaming community is, when a stranger from Sweden can reach out and ask "Hey, my friend is a huge fan, could you please...?"
Today I'm filled with gratitude. And full of "do not disturb" - I got a book to read!
