Join GM Jared and Rules Arbiter Steve as they discuss an interesting take from a video done by Runehammer, the creators of Index Card RPG, and Viking Death Squad, games we both love!
Runehammer came out with a video talking about retooling the entire spell system to aid in saving time at the table as well as being a great narrative tool; and while GM Jared and Rules Arbiter Steve both can see the potential, it is an undertaking to say the least as well as having your players buy into the idea as well. But we can use this idea to make spells for the Game Master easier without having to revamp the entire system.
The benefit of this is reducing the mental overhead we as game masters have while running several types of mosnters with various abilities, and spells, along with all the other stuff we need to keep in mind while running the game, things like Other battles, info about the adventure, NPC's the party will invariably bother and pester and the like.
So altering the spell system to make spells simplier for monsters that may last a few rounds to an entire fight is a great idea
