Matt Riddle is no longer with WWE.
The former WWE United States Champion took to social media on Friday evening to announce his departure. This was in wake of mass talent releases this week following the WWE-UFC merger to form TKO.
Riddle wrote, “Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon.”
Riddle signed with WWE in 2018 and started off on the NXT brand where he won the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside Pete Dunne (Butch). He then moved to SmackDown in 2020 and went on to become a one-time United States Champion and a two-time Raw Tag Team Champion alongside Randy Orton.
Riddle’s last televised appearance was on the September 4 episode of WWE RAW as he was in the midst of a tag team storyline with Drew McIntyre. https://www.wrestlezone.com/news/1407070-matt-riddle-announces-departure-from-wwe
Riddle was most recently in the news when an investigation was launched after he publicly accused airport police of sexually assaulting him. He missed shows with WWE after, but reports at the time indicated it was due to a medical issue and he was expected to return to television.
Now, he’s gone from the company altogether.
It should be stated that it’s unclear if this recent incident — or any of his other various controversies — had anything to do with his being released by WWE.
