Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne Walkthrough Part 3: A Criminal Mastermind
1With no leads in his investigation, Max decides to seek out Vladimir Lem, notify him about the events at Annie Finn's warehouse and hopefully, learn about potential identity of the mysterious assassins or their backer. With Vladimir having taken ownership of the building that once housed Ragna Rock nightclub owned by now deceased Jack Lupino with intention of renovating it into a restaurant called Vodka, Max heads there. However, as he does, he finds out that the building is under attack by mobsters led by Vinnie Gognitti who has advanced in ranks to become the mafia underboss after decimation of Punchinello Crime Family. With Gognitti and his men having Vladimir pinned down and the building's front door locked, Max is forced to fight his way through the building from its back door in order to reach Vladimir before he is killed. Eventually, Max reaches Vladimir's position and confronts Gognitti who, still traumatized from their encounter two years prior, retreats swearing revenge. As he asks Vladimir why did Italians attack him, Max finds out that Gognitti and his crew want to take over New York City's gunrunning market which is currently under control of the Russian mob, explaining Italians' attempted attack on Annie Finn's warehouse but leaving the identity of the assassins encountered by Max unknown...
