Welcome quite, quite handsomely to you again, my most *awesome* ladies and gentlemen!!! I am Adigun Azikiwe Polack (aka AdigunPolack), and I am BACK IN FULL ACTION on YouTube in 2012 with a brand new shmup superplay video of my own making... long time, no mother-fricking see!!! (^_~)v !!

This time, however, the game is a brand-new 2012 MSX homebrew shmup by Óscar Toledo Gutiérrez which officially placed 5th in the MSXdev'11 competition when the results were in... and it is entitled Mecha 8 (メカ八), a tough yet wonderfully well-polished vertically-scrolling shmup in the style of what Compile's Aleste would have been like *had* it been on the original early MSX computer system instead of on the MSX2 to begin with!! ;)

Mecha 8 is available for download and play on all MSX home computers and its emulators, through this link: http://msxdev.msxblue.com/?page_id=5

You play the role in this game of a gorgeous, yellow-haired, no-nonsense ass-kicking lady named Tricia Thunder (24 years old) as she heads into the serious fray of battle as pilot of her newly suited machine called "Mecha Eight", working her way through all five (5) levels of such challengingly intense play. And here to assist her along the way are the red-haired MRL director/top scientist named Scarlett Summer, and a blue-haired young woman on the team named Noriko Toroyama (who likes to show off and even break things sometimes!). As the game goes along as you clear the stages, brief cutscenes represent the story's forwarding progress through text-based dialogue... and even some occasional bits of Engrish and goofed-up grammar as some hilarious unintentional comedy right there! ^o^

When the game begins, you only have just ONE life to clear the entire five (5) levels indeed, all topped off of course with a main boss at the end of each. The arrow keys move your robot mecha, while the [SPACE] key fires your main shots. Furthermore, your special 4-way green-laser weapon can *only* be fired with the [M] key when the "Gauge" meter is full and flashing white, but be careful... once it is used, it cannot be active again unless you shoot down the many more enemies again, with which your "Gauge" meter slowly recharges.

Pick up power-up icons as to increase your different strengths to help make the battle a little easier:

- Pink "E" (Extra Energy)
- Green "P" (Main-shot Power Increase; can be powered-up to 3 times max)
- Blue "S" (Speed-up; can be powered-up to 3 times max)

And PLEASE keep a close eye on your "Energy" bar, because as it depletes slowly upon you getting hit and suffering enemy collisions (and especially so since your hitbox IS the entire length of your robot you are controlling), having all your energy completely knocked out causes "Game Over", so do not take too many hits!

Also, every time do you get hit indeed, your Speed and Main-shot levels go down by one notch, making the battle a lot harder and tougher in the later stages of the game.

Keeping all of that in mind, I have fought and conquered the entire game in a single pass with absolutely no continues... and WITHOUT FIRING A SPECIAL WEAPON EVEN ONCE!! Amazing if you just think about it, which is *exactly* the way I've played as you watch this video in its entirety, so do not miss it!!! ^-^=b !!

The game called Mecha 8 contains some bits of strong language, but, based on classic MSX gameplay, it is truly worth a pick-up-and-play for fans of the Aleste/Zanac series as a homebrew shmup that was first created and released by Óscar Toledo Gutiérrez in time for the 2012 New Year. And that is why I am presenting to you this brand-new shmup superplay indeed... no bull about that!!! ^_~ !!

Do enjoy this one in 720p High Definition right here, and thank you so much for your most wonderful time... ESPECIALLY to all you amazing shmup-maniacs in the Shmups.com Forumboard Community who seriously are an incredibly phenomenal bunch of most awesome people out there, let's get that right straight from the bottom of my very generous heart as well!!! ;) !!
