The player controls Nick and Deanna on their separate quests before joining their forces together to put an end to evil schemes of Iom cult.

Shining Force CD is a 1994 fantasy turn-based tactics role-playing game developed by Sonic! Software Planning for the Sega CD. It is a remake of Shining Force Gaiden and Shining Force Gaiden II that were originally made for the Game Gear. The first two Books of the plot repeat events of the aforementioned games, and two additional Books exclusive to this remake were added.

The game consists of a series of turn-based tactical battles interspersed with short cutscenes. Between cutscenes the player is allowed to save the game, promote characters, resurrect the fallen, and sometimes buy and sell weapons and healing items. The combat and leveling mechanics are identical to those of Shining Force II.

The localization of Shining Force CD is generally a more accurate translation than its at times confusing predecessors, Shining Force and Shining Force II, athough there are strange choices here as well. "Claude" is Barry. "Cray" is Kurei. "Dawn" is Angela. "Deanna" is Shu. "Edmond" is Edmund. "Eric" is Kraid. "Gyan" is Teddy (as in, a Teddy Bear) . The characters Hanzou and Musashi, who previously appeared in Shining Force, are referred to in Shining Force CD's localization as "Higins" and "Rush", respectively. "Jaha" is Aaron. "Luke" is Bill. "May" is Marrian. "Rohde" is Gamez. "Sig" is Shig. "Slade" is Sane. "Yeesha" is Eehsa. "Evil Monster" is Devil. "Chu Rao" is Chu Lao. Guardiana is called "Gardiana" here.

All books were played on Super Hard (hardest) difficulty. There are four grinding sessions overall, none of which were included into the video. I show all characters' stats after each one. For some reason, my wizards lost their movement bonus from Running Pimentos after promotion. After the end of Book 4, I show some extra stuff that didn't make it into the playthrough. -
