Game: Mega Man 11
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Completed: August 8, 2021
Rules: Beat the game

Well I just got through playing all ten of the previous Mega Man games as well as Mega Man & Bass, and this is the last Mega Man game in the classic series as of this recording. I think I played this game through on easy mode years ago but I didn't really remember much. Overall I picked a fantastic boss order though. This is my first recording using the Elgato HD 60S+ and I'm still getting familiar with the best settings for recording Switch gameplay. Any suggestions?

Here are some highlights:

3 minutes, 45 seconds - The voices of Dr. Light and Mega Man are way better than they were in Mega Man 8. Also, Dr. Wily only flies away with Block Man? What made him different than the other ones he warped away? And in typical Wily form, I guess he just busted a hole in Dr. Light's ceiling again.

10 minutes, 30 seconds - This shop is the best one yet. The descriptions of the items are clear and it even tells you how many you have out of your total capacity. It looks like you can get into the hundreds of thousands of bolts though?

13 minutes, 30 seconds - I had some recording lag here and I'm not sure why. Also those are instant-death spikes over there, Mr. Greed Man.

28 minutes, 50 seconds - Is that Jim Carrey yelling "Shattered"? Nah. It's Michael T. Coleman. This game also has the best weapon explanations and trial sections out of the entire series. I then had to see if the game lets you re-enter a completed stage, which it does. Very good for grinding purposes but I don't think there's a way to exit other than by completing the stage or getting a game over. Then I got an error for pushing the button for Amiibo something-or-other. Just play the game and stop screwing around!

32 minutes, 45 seconds - I love how they don't freeze you in place for a split second while your life is refilling after picking up a health refill. So many past Mega Man games did that and it would sometimes throw off your rhythm and cause you to die if it was near a pit.

36 minutes - If you re-enter a stage, the "Tanks" or extra lives don't come back so you can't keep collecting them that way.

47 minutes, 30 seconds - Pretty cool place to grind for bolts here.

52 minutes - I had to try this...Looks like the wall of fire just stops.

54 minutes, 40 seconds - I so often hit the Home button instead of the + button. Oops!

1 hour, 18 minutes - Explosions tend to impede your view. That's my biggest complaint about the bosses in this game. Sometimes you can't tell what's going on because of all of the explosions.

1 hour, 25 minutes, 30 seconds - I like how they show your enemy select screen up there during this cutscene. Are those Japanese characters?

1 hour, 51 minutes - Whoops! I thought you were supposed to go down here. It kind of looks like there's a wall blocking your path to the right but I guess that's in the background.

2 hours, 33 minutes - Does anyone ever like these types of mechanics in any game?

2 hours, 35 minutes, 20 seconds - They are really generous about how they knock you back on the platform here.

2 hours, 43 minutes, 40 seconds - Here's a typical Mega Man series flub...get the boss down to low life, get down to low life yourself, use an energy tank, beat the boss without getting hit after that thereby wasting the tank. Rad.

3 hours, 4 minutes, 35 seconds - Another fire wall stop here. Alright.

3 hours, 49 minutes, 40 seconds - A Pink Floyd reference! Also I love Block Man's desperation move once he returns to his normal size. So many cool phases to this guy.

3 hours, 52 minutes, 15 seconds - I like to spike! You know, the voices aren't annoying in this game which is a surprise. Also wait a second...I realized at this moment that the boss capsules were set up in order of their weaknesses.

3 hours, 59 minutes - The fact that they let you save at any Wily stage, re-enter any Wily stage, go back to any normal stage at any time, and even visit the shop whenever you want makes the end of this game a breeze. Almost seems too easy but it's still fun. I ended up being way overprepared as usual.

4 hours, 18 minutes, 15 seconds - What does that say in the background there? Besamp Man?

4 hours, 21 minutes, 50 seconds - These items become available after beating the game. I found out later that the reason I didn't unlock all of the items in the shop was because some of them only become available after dying on spikes a certain number of times or using so much weapon energy or something.

Overall a great game. The controls are just right. Pretty easy, but that's really because of how generous they are with bolts and the shop. I kind of wish that they didn't have a droning sound for the entire time that you have your buster holding a charge though since it kind of covers up the music for most of the game. Time to move on to Superhero mode!
