This is a really awesome way of combining the first and second Ys games into one experience. Before I played this, I played through the Sega Master System version of the original Ys so I was pretty familiar with what I needed to do. That being said, some of the dungeon layouts are different, and you probably won't get anywhere close to maxing your level in this version since your level carries over with you into Ys Book II. As far as Ys Book II was concerned, this was mostly a blind playthrough since I hadn't played it in about 15 years or so. This video covers Book I. Parts 2 and 3 will cover Book II.

Here are some highlights:

2 hours, 42 minutes, 20 seconds - My power actually went out right here. Crazy thing was, I was right on the save screen getting ready to save my game when it went out. Didn't matter too much since you can save pretty much anywhere and I had done just that, but it was funny that I was literally like one second away from saving my game. Good thing it didn't go out as the game was saving!

3 hours, 58 minutes - Dark Fact is so easy in this version. Wow. I just love how the end of this game flows right into the beginning of Ys Book II though. It's really cool how they did that, and I love how you keep your experience. Obviously they couldn't let you keep your gold though or the game would be much easier!
