This is, in my opinion, the hardest stage of all eight Robot Masters. There's no shortage of ways to get one-hit killed and there are a few places where you'll probably die accidentally, like the second lava boat colliding on the ceiling.
This stage also forces you to use the first of the four special weapons acquired to solve puzzles too, which is a surprisingly nice gimmick.
Gearna Eye is also a tough mini-boss if only because it has lava and a bottomless pit just in case you think you can survive taking damage and falling into it. The mini-boss itself isn't too tough, but the fact you're under pressure of being insta-killed can really weight on you here.
On its second phase if Gearna Eye blinks twice it'll make the enemy hammer the platform you're at, but it might be difficult to notice since it happens so fast. The game at least is merciful enough to give you some time to react to it.
Sword Man in contrast is, probably, the easiest boss fight of the game, thankfully.
The boss telegraphs two attacks the same way (raising his sword): the one he dashes with his lower half and jumps with the upper body to use the Fire Sword and the one he drops a giant stone idol on your head, so be careful.
The Fire Slash, the spinning one, is also easy to deal. Pay attention to the wall sparks, once they start it means the attack is about to end.
Sword Man also has an attack where he shields himself with an aura. It's mostly harmless, though.
