Mega Man (GB/World): Dr. Wily's Revenge: Part 1: Cut Man Stage
This is one of the playthroughs I wanted to show on December 17th, 2022. That is the 35th Anniversary of the entire Mega Man franchise.
Here's the start of five of its games on the Game Boy. They start off as been condensed versions of different combinations of the NES games, but as the number rises, these games start to have more and more of their own identity.
You can called these "Mega Man World" games, because that's what they were going to be called in the US. Japan already called them "Rockman World" games, so why not?
----------
A plot to justify this game being a combo of NES Mega Man 1 & 2 is that Dr. Wily had taken some of Dr. Light's robots, 4 of them to be exact, and reprogrammed them again to do is evil bidding. It's up to the Super Fighting Robot: Mega Man, to stop his brothers once more and save the world once again from Wily's tyranny!
----------
This time, you only get to choose from 4 Robot Masters instead of 6 or 8. All 4 of these Robot Masters come from Mega Man 1. I start with Cut Man's stage.
There may be some similarities between the Game Boy and NES versions of a Robot Master's stage, but generally they are much different from each other, and the Game Boy version even has new enemies, or new takes on old enemies.
Even reaching the Robot Master's room is different in this game. You will first drop down a hole, open a door in the middle of the screen, and then drop down another door before finally reaching the Robot Master.
Cut Man in this game feels way more annoying to fight, especially if you don't have his weakness. If you're not busy dodging his Rolling Cutter attack, you're more likely busy just dodge him from touching you for collision damage.
But if you do manage to beat him with or without his weakness, his Rolling Cutter will once again be yours!
