Mega Man V (Game Boy Color) Playthrough
A playthrough of Capcom's 1994 Game Boy game, Mega Man V.
This version of the game, retitled "Mega Man World 5 DX," is running a patch that updates the original game to support full-color graphics on a Game Boy Color system and removes the slowdown. If you'd like to try it yourself, you can find the patch over at https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/7413/

Mega Man V is probably the least known of the Game Boy Mega Man games, but it's one of the best of the bunch. It wasn't based on the NES games like the first four were, and it does a few unique things that make it stand out on the crowded seas of 8-bit Mega Man games. The graphics are all new, the robot masters aren't all called [insert random word] Man, there's an upgrade shop, and Mega Man even gets a chomping Pac-Man hand to launch at stuff. It's very much a traditional Mega Man game at its core, but its novelty gives it a bit of that spark that Mega Man 5 and 6 on the NES were missing.
This patch gives the graphics a huge boost. It was already a good-looking game to begin with, but this colorization job breathes a lot of new life into it. The palette choices give it a look similar to the NES games, and there aren't any goofy errors or glitches to remind you that this was a fan project. It's all quite professionally done.
A big thank you to the guys who put it together. This rocks!
