Octopus is the type of boss I can't find a 100% safe strategy to deal with. What you see here is the result of a few dozens of attempts at work and some meaty punches to the chair.

There's just so many things, so many ways Octopus can react and attack that this fight is, simply put, one big clusterfuck. By the time I recorded this thing I was so annoyed at this fight that my aim was way off and I missed a ton of easy shots while Octopus used the tornado attack.

I wasted a couple of hours trying to discern a pattern or figure a reliable way to lure his tornado attack or at least not make him spam his homing fishes to no avail. Maybe there is a way, maybe there isn't, but it certainly does not involve any conventional mean.

If he jumps to the middle of the room and uses his homing shots twice it's almost impossible to avoid getting hit using only the buster shot. I use a mid-charged buster shot to break the first two fishes and I assume he's not going to fire another set, but Octopus usually does, so wall jumping to the other side is normally the safest bet here.

For the most part of the fight I try to keep Octopus on the other side of the room where I can have plenty of time to break his normal torpedoes and enough time to deal with the homing ones.

Without Dash? He's the epitome of what a RNG boss is. There's absolutely NO good strategy using only the Buster against him without the Leg Upgrade. If you don't believe just try it yourself.
