Oh hey, I finally got the chance to do this. Since I have a bit more free time now, I figured I would try a specific playthrough idea I mentioned a while ago. Plus, it fills some time while waiting for a few of the upcoming releases on certain fan-games. In either case, I've been wanting to do a playthrough on this for a while now.

Just to note: This is actually the PC version of Mega Man X4 (or at least, most of the footage is from it). I initially tried doing this with both the PSX and the ePSXe emulators, though both ended with some pretty bad results. The PSX wouldn't run the game correctly to begin with, and would more often than not produce strange glitches right from the start. The ePSXe, while it would run the game decently enough with the recording software off, would go insane once I turned Camtasia's recorder on. The game lagged and froze up so much that it made it downright unplayable. What's even worse is that these issues just seemed to pop up whenever they felt like it (it's practically a miracle I captured the animated opening of the game without it corrupting suddenly). All of this basically lead me to trying the PC version, which actually worked out rather well...with the exception of a few specific things.

First off, there's no music in the PC version, at least not initially. The game actually requires you to have the disc in your computer for the music to run properly (for whatever reason). Given this, I opted to insert the music back in through editing, along with trying to remain as accurate as possible with the original music cues.

Another thing to note about the PC version is that it doesn't have any of the animated cutscenes that the console versions had. To be honest, I don't see this as that much of a loss, since I'm essentially skipping all the cutscenes and dialogue anyways (along with cutting out loading screens). One other quirk I noticed in this version is that X and Zero seem to teleport out of the level almost immediately after you beat a boss (and as such, you probably won't be hearing the "level complete" theme in this run). Beyond all of that however, the PC version is roughly the same as the console version.
