Current version: 1.03

No random mobs around here, just some obstacles and sprinkled healing supplies abound before the team runs into two strange figures. One should be of no surprise by this point, Sigma, seen here in his reaper form from X4.

As for the other guy...back when Zero & Ciel were explaning things early in the game, they mentioned someone opening up a time portal ahead of them, but couldn't see who went through. Well, it's a pretty good guess the guy present now, the primary villain from the Mega Man Zero series known as Dr. Weil, was that individual.

Basically, the original Zero's special and someone seemed to know a lot about him, as if he was his own father or creator. No doubt referring to Dr. Wily, but there's a chance it could be some stalker that seems to know more about the original Zero than perhaps even his creator.

In any case, even though the binding process is incomplete, Weil decides to set Omega loose on the party. Omega's still on that "You killed Iris" schtick with X, but this time he even decides to claim X turned Iris against Zero. Soon after, he summons a pair of Zero Nightmares and the first fight begins.

For fight 1, single target attacks are the name of the game here from all sources, none of which do much more than 1000 damage or so. Inclined to believe Omega has some kind of attack that hits the whole party, but he never used it here if he had one. As such, with rampant use of Omega's weakness here, Dark Flash, he gets stomped without much issue.

Of course, it's not that easy. Weil, seeing his plan beginning to crumble, decides to activate plan B...fuse the original Zero with a cyber elf to bring out Omega's latent powers.

Round 2 is probably the hardest portion of this boss gauntlet. Three parts, all using one attack and one attack only. The left hand's the weakest, using Omega Sword for around 1000 damage to a single target. The other two parts hit the whole party. Between the main body's Head Shot and the right arm's Omega Laser, that's easily 2500+ damage each person takes. Not to be taken lightly.

At first, you see me using Dark Flash a couple times. That's because in the original game, both arms could be paralyzed, significantly reducing the difficulty of the fight. Here though, whether by the fact the arms are likely immune to paralysis or me having terrible luck, I couldn't get the effect to land. That combined with the damage I was taking meant I just had to suck it up and soldier through the fight.

What also wasn't helping was the fact I drew a blank and forgot what this form's main body was weak to for a good couple minutes, Fire Rage. For what it's worth though, the main body can be berserked. The berserk effect isn't permanent and has to be reapplied from time to time, but a berserked part means less damage I have to suffer overall and that's always a good thing.

The battle's not over when round 2 finishes. Omega transforms one last time and the true final battle with him commences. Not as hard as the second battle simply because it's only one target attacking, even if all three of its attacks (Electric Fury, Power Laser, Dark Meteor) hit all party members. Glow Laser is this form's weakness.

After the fight, whether Omega has been neutralized remains to be seen, but the original Zero has taken a ton of damage. By some luck of the draw, the mother elf from the MMZ series shows up and says she can get the original Zero back to base and hopefully patched up.

Before the team can decide what to do next, Sigma shows up, basically saying to come get him first. Fair enough dude, we'll do just that, but first...how about a random skill reward?

Zero Virus costs 50 WE and hits all enemies. Anything non-boss caliber that takes damage dies instantly because it does at least 1500+ damage. They may survive due to it potentially missing, but it also has the chance to inflict every status ailment in the book.

There's two problems with this skill though. First, I think bosses are now flat out immune damage wise to it. Granted I only tried it on a couple bosses so I can't be 100% sure about that.

The real problem? Only X gets to use this skill. If he's got the Ultimate X skill, there's no reason to use Zero Virus really. If you're on a low level game and not using the Ultimate X skill though, it's basically an easy ticket to nuking randoms if you lack Mega Blast and/or Tornado Saber.

Next time, the assault on Sigma Tower #infinity begins.
