Story: The origin of the Metal Gear series begins in 1964 at the height of the Cold War. Naked Snake: the man who would later become the legendary soldier known as Big Boss, heads into Soviet territory to help and rescue scientist Sokolov defect to the West. However, the mission ends in failure when Snake's mentor, a female soldier known as The Boss unexpectedly defects to the Soviet Union. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, Snake is forced to question the meaning of "loyalty", as he embarks on a lone mission to kill his former mentor.....
Description: The Metal Gear games are some of the most celebrated titles in the video game industry, so it's no surprise many of them have seen multiple re-releases and ports since their initial, mostly PlayStation-exclusive debuts. Of the games, fans and critics alike often regard Metal Gear Solid 3 as the best of a quality bunch of great games. And with the recent release of the remake trailer, the spotlight has been put on the game once again. Often hailed as the fan favourite of the series (myself included), it's time to take a look back at this Hideo Kojima masterpiece. Almost every Metal Gear Solid game in the series is an (almost) perfect amalgamation of gameplay, stealth gameplay, movie, story, and design but MGS3 really captures this formula as lightning in a bottle.
It takes the quality gameplay from the second game and vastly improves it: namely of how open ended it is. All players can tackle the game in completely different ways because of the amount of options at their disposal. It also takes the better story pacing from the original. The jungle setting feels far more conducive to stealth than the military-industrial locations of the past two games.
I can't believe this is a Playstation 2 game as the graphics are still (I know I'm playing the HD version) good and the game is still so satisfying to play.
I've added all the cutscenes into my Foxhound playthrough, along with some noticeable codec conversations (and funny ones!) so it is essentially the complete experience of Metal Gear Solid 3.
I slaved a lot on this video but I feel it is worthy of the best tribute I can give it as the game deserves it. Excited and intrigued to see how the remake will turn out. But please enjoy the playthrough/movie!
