Ya know for the first real boss in Metroid dread this guy is actually very complex.
Like most metroid bosses shooting it in the head is a viable option but you'll need to keep a look out for his poison breath and tail swipes as well as this boss fight having 3 phases which usually you don't see until an endgame metroid boss fight but here 3 phases.

First you need to shoot him in the head (obviously) and do a basic battle.

Once he goes phase 2 he will cloak himself but keep the same attack pattern except now he's weak in the tail although the head will also work.

After that he will start elevating himself and you need to make use of the magnet grip to avoid his poison covering the ground and your slide to get under him. Be careful though because sliding under him will cause him to get physical so you need to have parrying skills at the ready.

Successfully parry and Corpius will take you for a ride. THIS IS NOT A CUTSCENE THIS IS A DAMAGE WINDOW! Unload your missiles and charge shots into his skull.

But overall this was a very fun first boss and Dread seems to be a great game so far.

Also you could argue this isn't the first boss and that the first boss is EMMI but this is the first boss with a traditional boss gate so I suppose it could be either boss fights don't have to be traditional anymore.
