After a few rooms filled with golden Space Pirates and other enemies, it's finally time for Samus to face her arch-nemesis: Ridley. This battle can be quite grueling, because it takes a lot of Missiles in order to defeat Ridley. I've read that this fight goes faster using charged shots, but the problem with that is that unless you can guarantee a hit on him each time you use it, it ends up being a waste of time. Power Bombs, as far as I know, don't really do anything against him, so the best bet is to just send a barrage of Missiles at him. Whatever you do, try not to let him grab you. If he does, you can still blast him with Missiles, but the damage he inflicts on you offsets any you do unto him. This ends up being a battle of endurance, and when you defeat him simply destroy the Core-X that emerges and you end up with the best upgrade in the game: the Screw Attack. There is a reason why the game saved this particular item for last, and it means only one thing: time to go on a bit of a Screw Attack-induced rampage!! ;)
