Okay, not really. The X have absorbed an important scientist, and that is why the main boiler is about to explode. Samus defeats this X and gets the Wide Beam. She also restarts the cooling unit in the main boiler.
Samus then goes back to Adam the Computer, who is confused as to why the X wanted to destroy the entire space station. Adam tells Samus to look for survivors in the habitation deck.
