This is probably one of my least favourite sections of the game - the sudden complete darkness forces you to adapt to using the Thermal Visor very quickly, and it's compounded by my lock on not quite working properly for some reason. Still, we persevere, and eventually step into the light once more.

Metroid Prime was the first game developed by Retro Studios, and was released in 2002 on the Gamecube in North America, with it following in Europe and Japan the following year. It was the first time Metroid had transitioned from 2D to 3D, and it proved a critical and commercial success.
Retro Studies went on to develop two sequels - Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and still continue their profitable partnership with Nintendo today, developing Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mario Kart 7 and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze to date.
