I'll kick things off with a No-Miss clear of the first loop, then keep going until L3S4. No POWs were allowed to die. When you reach L3, you're in for a tough time... but surely, there are those who could say this is where the fun begins. I don't know of any limit on how many loops you can go on for. Konami's Gradius games allow you to play forever, and so does Green Beret. Maybe MIA is this way also. Like some other Konami games, the International version is more difficult.
On the final stage where you're rescuing the POWs, the 2nd player buy-in will be blocked until the next loop starts. You better not lose all the POWs because this will end the game immediately... even if you have 5, 10, or 15 lives left. Every POW saved is worth 80K, which will get you an extra life.
CONTENT ADVISORY: Strong Violence, but nothing too graphic. Plenty of enemy soldiers end up slashed, shot, or blasted by the protagonist en route to the POW detention area.
