So welcome to this next performance evaluation of the Radeon HD 5850, this time with Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor!
I consider it a bridge between the previous and new generation of games when considering it's gameplay and graphics technology. Fortunately the Radeon HD 5850 meets the minimum system requirements, and then some!
We will test the graphics presets available to us in the built-in benchmark, then do some gameplay tests to further refine how we set up the graphics to use our 5850 optimally.
I've configured OBS to use my Intel i5-4690K's built in Quicksync Encoder to handle footage recording, which of course frees up CPU core resources for game processing, presenting a clearer, more accurate picture of hardware performance when running a particular title. To further facilitate this, OBS writes to it's own dedicated HDD.
