MiG-21 F-13 Perf. Test Flight - Radio Rangfinder Gyrosight, E-Bleed, etc.「War Thunder」
73*Video doesn't include everything so more info in this description:* || BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE GYRO RADIO RANGEFINDER(f-100/mig21/sabres)/RADAR (mig19 only) THING ONLY WORKS IN COCKPIT VIEW. EXAMPLE @ 1:50. Yes, you can turn it off. || You can't rely on a single trim setting like on the mig19. The trim works backwards with mach tuck throughout most of the mig21's useful speed range. Gyro gunsights are wonky to aim but if you have a steady hand it'll do the job. Thrust/weight is weaker than F4C Phantom, and so is the sustained turning capability. It has a long tail (you'll see me tailstrike all my landings), a rather low IAS rip speed (700 knots), a default G tolerance (7 Gs manual but in WT it's the default 13 Gs). Does not spin when attempting to force it into one with positive Gs, but a stable inverted spin is possible from a vertical and is dangerous. Bleeds around 80 knots/s @ 300 knots, 300 knots/s @ 600 knots. Roll rate good but somewhat insufficient at combat speeds. Has a very annoying strong tendancy to self-right itself (levels wings automatically). Stall speed 140 knots, 150 knots stock. but requires 170-ish knots to take-off and land with flaps, 195-ish knots without flaps as the absolute safe minimum. I recommend 185 minimum with flaps and 220 without and always approach fast because the energy bleed at the AoA required to land requires a lot of power to sustain flight. Gear speed limit untested, above 240 knots. Flap rip speed 270 knots. Stock configuration max speed Mach 1.75 @ 12km. Stock sustained climb speed ~75m/s @ ~270-310 knots. Glide angle with full flaps, gears out and brakes out is about 40 degrees. Glide angle clean is about 12 degrees descent / nose @ 7 degrees which is better than expected.
Generally speaking it is inferior to the F-4 phantom in every way except stall speed, which it cannot use to its advantage due to the very high AoA required (22 degrees to the nose) to get it and a lot of energy bleed.
