Minecraft 1.8 Tutorial - How to change the menu backdrop to your own map
Minecraft 1.8 (pre-release) has a nicely updated front end menu including a nice blurred fly-around of a map as a backdrop.
A clever mix of images and code have produced an effective look with a low overhead for users.
Nice as it is, we all like to customise things so wouldn't it be nice to have your own map - with buildings and landscapes you recognise - greeting you when you start up Minecraft?
In this video I will show you how.
Tools needed:
Minecraft. Derp
Photoshop. Other image programs will do but you will need to adapt the instructions accordingly.
WinRar or a similar program that can open a .jar file
