You can finally store the coordinates of players and other entities in scoreboards, you can even set their coordinates using the new execute store functionality, besides that ANY NBT DATA THAT IS NUMERIC CAN BE ALTERED USING THIS. IT IS SUPER POWERFUL.

This is a rough hype overview, I did not do a well job explaining it but here are some commands:
/execute store result score @s x_pos run data get entity @e[type=zombie, limit=1, sort=nearest] Pos[0]
/execute store result score @s y_pos run data get entity @e[type=zombie, limit=1, sort=nearest] Pos[1]
/execute store result score @s z_pos run data get entity @e[type=zombie, limit=1, sort=nearest] Pos[2]
to get the x, y and z coordinates.
