With the release of 1.7 we now have the ability to add new custom sounds to ResourcePacks for custom maps, etc...

Changed in 1.9 Minecraft and upwards.

Old command:
playsound custom.fanfare @p ~ ~ ~ 1.0 1.0

New command:
playsound custom.fanfare music @p ~ ~ ~ 1.0 1.0 1.0

playsound sound source player x y x volume pitch minimumVolume

source: is which slider will control the volume of the audio, master, music, weather, voice, block, etc
