6Today's level is Mines of Inferno by Graphite, a gorgeous traditional-style level with a few gimmicks rolled into it.
The tile work here is amazing, and I really like the background/foreground combinations and just the general atmosphere. The floor of fire is a great touch. You can tell there was a ton of work put into not only how some of the challenges would play out, but also how they would look in the level, which always stands out when I see it.
On that note, the challenge escalation was great in this one too. You get the safe introduction of certain obstacles (such as the falling boxes), then you have to try it a few more times in these increasingly-more-dangerous environments.
The checkpoints were stretched out enough to give tension to the challenges, but not too far where it became frustrating to replay the level over and over. This is really hard to get right in my experience, and it's easy to be a little off in either direction (Either too easy or too frustrating). I thought these were just about perfect, for my skill level anyways.
