Miniature Medieval Crowds in Action: 3D Prop Animation with iClone, ActorCore and Blender
Concept artist and 3D generalist Florian Salvesberger reveals how iClone’s Motion Director and MD Prop Interaction tools brought his medieval siege camp to life with fluid, game-like character control and dynamic crowd simulation. Using MD Props, he created seamless interactions—like sitting, sparring, and operating siege equipment—without the need for complex keyframing.
To refine animations and prepare for final rendering, Florian exported the full scene as an FBX into Blender, maintaining animation fidelity and scene structure. With support for motion capture data and layered animation editing via the Motion Layer Editor, this iClone-to-Blender workflow proved both fast and flexible—ideal for high-efficiency pipelines in film, game, and virtual production studios.
