MiniDrivers started out life as a YouTube cartoon, satirising the most recent Formula 1 races. It's expanded a lot since then, covering MotoGP and Formula E, as well as classic racing moments.
This game, from Ivanovich Games, released in 2015 and has been updated a bit since then with later seasons. It also covers classic cars from 1950s-2010s. Ultimately it's a port of a mobile phone game, with somewhat spurious handling in places, but it's fun enough to play in short bursts. There's hundreds of things to unlock though (tracks, seasons, cars.
It was also targeted by the FIA/FOM as it's unofficially covering the F1 season. This resulted in the game being taken offline for a while whilst some car liveries were changed/added to, so that it looks slightly less official. But many of the cars, including classic ones, remain unchanged.
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 As the tracks are also mini versions, I've included a whole lap of Monza here. Races are pretty chaotic, with weapons/boosts/shields as power ups, so it was a struggle to get a clean lap!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:27 The wet weather effect makes everything a bit slippery, with some lightning effects. I notice the Silverstone track has extra water features around the edge!
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:37 Monaco is a bit tricky in this game, as it's easy to lose control on the hills. As all the buildings are black, it looks quite dark.
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 0:49 I wasn't able to find a version of Spa in wet weather (it can be run at night though, bizarrely!). Eau Rouge is suitably squished here!
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:01 Pitstops operate like F-Zero on the SNES; you just drive through to fix your car, no need to stop!
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:12 Crashes happen all the time, so I had a few here, as well as getting hit by a weapon and falling into some fictional water hazards (I like how the music slows down underwater!). Damage-wise, you lose your wings and that's about it.
