This is just getting funny at this point...FPGAZumSpass is just a coding robot. Not a real human. He dropped ANOTHER core on Labor Day and here is the results of that work! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask both work! Plus a LOT more!
This new core includes texture filtering so you can now toggle N64 texture filtering on OR off...so you can be team chunky pixel or team texture filtering! Also you can now save your game in the MiSTer FPGA N64 core! Which is a huge update! Plus there are some updates to the graphics pipeline that fix games that had graphical glitches! and a few more games that just work!
This is a new video with new working games and viewer requested tests! Because so many N64 games work on MiSTer FPGA now...it takes more than one video to test them all!
FPGAZumSpass apparently never sleeps! Because we have Z Buffer in the WIP Nintendo 64 MiSTer FPGA core! now with MORE rendering modes for RDP, new playable games that never used to boot...and more CPU cache, texture filtering and save games! Plus other graphical improvements!
And he updated again with improvements to the Reality Display Processor FPGA code fixing a lot of the visual issues and made even more games playable!
FPGAZumSpass (also just known as Robert) just dropped a bomb on the MiSTer FPGA community letting everyone know he is attempting to get the Nintendo 64 working on MiSTer FPGA! Which would be a wild retro gaming achievement...so let's take a look at the announcement, how the N64 works from a hardware standpoint...and get cautiously excited. Retrogaming is filled with excitement this week!
and now ANOTHER UPDATED alpha WIP Nintendo 64 core exists that can run certain demos and now a large majority of the N64 library came out yesterday! It's the early days but you know you want to see N64 in FPGA in action! and now its running multiple retail N64 games...just now the way you remember the Nintendo 64 running them!
The speed at which this progress is happening is just STAGGERINGLY fast!

And now it has a lot more sound with some of the RSP updates as well as graphics with the RDP updates and Z Buffering support!. Super Mario 64 is VERY playable and now perspective correction has been added to the core so it looks EVEN better than before! Gonna be playing those N64 hidden gems before you even know it!

I asked, you answered...and I try to listen :) Of all the requests for new content on the channel one of the most frequently asked for videos is a series on the Terasic DE-10 Nano MiSTer FPGA hardware...so here it is! Retro gaming goodness.
On this episode of our MiSTer series we are going to be talking about the recent happenings in the MiSTer FPGA scene in regards to the potential of a Nintendo 64 core for MiSTer FPGA! Nobody saw it coming...and it was long considered an "impossible core" but perhaps Nintendo's first 3D console might be coming to MiSTer soon! Which would be amazing as there are a ton of great games for it and software emulation, while much improved, is still a bit hit or miss. Plus modding a N64 for HDMI out is expensive and VERY difficult!
N64 on MiSTer FPGA would be a huge moment for video game history and preservation too!
The N64 core RSP work seems to be getting buttoned up...so next comes the RDP or Reality Display Processor which is in progress and it now has perspective correction built in! . Which means we can now "play" Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Wave Race 64, even The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask...and some other items! and most of the corrupted graphics have been solved by this point in time!
But after the PS1 core on MiSTer (developed by Robert as well) and the PSX 2X core…nobody should doubt his talents!
and when it comes out just play Bomberman Hero, the N64 hidden gem of choice around this channel!
