And now for something completely different...or rather, slightly different. To be honest, unless we're talking about TF2 or Spec Ops: The Line, I'm generally not all that interested in or even that good at most FPS games. This on the other hand, isn't your typical FPS. I don't know how I skipped over 8-Bit Deatmatch for so long, but I figured it was finally time to do a video of some kind on it, especially considering there was an update a few months back that added quite a bit of new content. In addition to story campaigns based on Mega Man 1 through 8, we now have ones based on Mega Man & Bass and the Wily Wars game for the Genesis. This also includes King and the Genesis Unit as new bosses.

Personally, I'm actually really glad to see the latter in this game. Don't get me wrong, I like the Mega Man Killers quite a bit (and granted, all three of them are bosses in this game as well), but I find them to be rather overused in comparison to the Genesis Unit when it comes to fan-games. I guess it could be because more people played the Game Boy versions, but the Wily Wars wasn't all that bad either. In any case, it's good to see that the Genesis Unit is finally getting some attention again.

Anyways, I wanted to record a video of these two bosses in action, though I also wanted to have a bit more fun with it in the process - and what better way to do so than with the Justified Classes mod? For those of you that don't know, "Justified Classes" is an extra mod that aims to make each character in-game their own class. This means that they all function in a unique manner, operating in a way that emulates their original skill-sets from the games they appear in. There's apparently also plans to include every major Mega Man character and Robot Master in this, so there's quite a bit of content to look forward to.

For this run, I've decided to randomly pick from the list of Mega Man games currently a part of 8BDM (and MMV for the Game Boy, considering the Stardroids are also present in this mod), and then pick my favorite Robot Master or general character from that game. I ended up with MM6, which basically meant I was picking Knight Man (I was on the verge of picking Tomahawk or Blizzard, but they're more-so tied for my second favorites in that game). Knight Man controls a bit like Proto Man in this mod, in that he has a shield at all times. On its own, the shield is capable of blocking against most projectiles (although it seems to depend on how they're aimed at you). His alt-fire causes him to raise his shield to block out almost any projectile from the front. Beyond that, he also has his trademark Knight Crush as his main attack. The mace itself deals more damage the longer it stays inside a target. Pressing and holding the fire button will also cause the mace to go further, but it will also stop in place once it reaches a set distance, and will continue to do so as long as you hold down the button. Any enemy that comes into contact with the stationary mace is generally going to be torn apart in just a few seconds, but it can be difficult to actually get that to happen.

As for a few other notes on the bosses in this video: Yes, I realize I could have just cheesed them with the Knight Crush's aforementioned "hold" ability, but I actually wanted to show what they could do and fight them more thoroughly. Also, Knight Man's shield apparently can't block out the harpoons that Mega Water S fires, yet it can somehow block out Buster Rod G's spear (for whatever reason). Given this, I also tried to do my best to avoid him during the Genesis Unit fight, rather than just taking the spear and avoiding the other two. The only time I couldn't really do so was during the Beta Attack when the general speed of it started to pick up. This is mostly due to the fact that Knight Man seems to move a bit slower and can jump higher than most of the other characters. It made avoiding the Spear consistently a bit of an issue, but I at least wanted to try to jump it rather than just running through it.

Edit: As it turns out, the final boss theme for the Genesis Unit is indeed an original composition - one made by OrangeMario with some help from RushJet1 and Blaze.
