As a writer, one of the necessary components for me to enjoy an MMORPG is a rich story and deep lore. But what about lore overload? How much is too much when it comes to storyline in an MMO?

I was absolutely enthralled by this article over at PC Gamer this morning: https://www.pcgamer.com/why-im-thrilled-starfield-is-coming-out-before-the-elder-scrolls-6. In it, the writer analyzes why they actually prefer Starfield coming out before The Elder Scrolls 6, because they aren't looking forward to the massive lore research undertaking that getting back into another Elder Scrolls game will require.

It's an issue with any long-term IP within the video game space. They often become burdened by their history. It's the same issue with the Star Wars shows on Disney+, or the Marvel shows as well; there is simply too much lore to take in, and at some point it becomes so overwhelming that it can take away from the enjoyement, rather than add to it.
