Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - Afflicted Seregios 125 investigation with DBs
Trying to record gameplay for Monster Hunter is hellish because making sure to clip often enough to be able to stitch together an uninterrupted full hunt (as clips only last 30 seconds at most) kinda means I'm putting less focus on the actual hunt... but I really wanted to upload a few vids for future reference, and so I figured why not try this time.
(I unfortunately started clipping late, so you missed the first 50 seconds of the run: I grab some pots from the chest, warp to the other camp, jump down to the green spiribird on the ledge, then circle back and wirebug up to the top where Seregios spawned; then I sharpened my weapon for the Protective Polish buff and changed to blue scroll for x1.05 elemental damage, and then started attacking the Seregios. The video starts 10 seconds after sharpening.)
Seregios is a mildly scary monster: it has comparably low health and super-accessible weak points in its legs, but just WON'T STAY STILL. Before this update palamutes were king at status using silkbinder so you could often rely on an early paralysis to lock it down and burst while it's still Qurio-enraged, but the update nerfed silkbinder and now they only do x0.2 status (and x0.5 raw; as a result the current palamute meta is now elemental chains). There's still the option of using traps to lock down Seregios, but I've never really cared to do that... so in the end you just have a straightforward brawl where I try to counter its swipes and pray it falls over soon.
The latest Title Update 3 added in a new feature: bringing in followers to most master-rank quests, including investigations! Before this update, followers were calibrated to deal x0.1 damage to monsters (but still full partbreak and status), so unsurprisingly the optimal followers to bring were two hunting horns. In particular, since Minoto focuses more on defensive songs and likes to use a Stinkmink to lure monsters over to you, it's often preferred to bring along Hinoa and Utsushi, in order to get both attack up and elemental attack boost songs. Hinoa also is pretty quick to lifepowder you too, which is a nice bonus. The fact that you can get such nice support while still getting single-player monster health (unlike when you play online and have x1.35 HP for two-player, x1.70 HP for three-player, or x2.00 HP for four-player) means hunts go waaaay more smoothly than they rightfully should, haha. The update buffed non-HH followers but to be honest I can't imagine they could out-damage an optimized-set player, so I'll continue to stick to these two.
By the way, yes, this is the final set using the augmented mats from the last video, haha.
