there's a thing with Monster Hunter World at least where certain attacks off a ledge of certain weapons allow the hunter to get back on the ledge, essentially creating a loop.

Better known with aerial Greatsword for speedruns. I'm just wondering why aerial Hammer isn't a thing when it can do almost the same thing, worse damage but better aerial mobility and KO potential.

That curiosity soon extended with me messing with the same mechanic using different weapons. Maybe I'll try high recoil ammos for Bowguns next time.

By the way, half of this video is me grabbing shiny objects and getting shoved around by the chicken. I wasn't serious when recording this, but figured might as well upload it.

00:00 Greatsword
It's harder than it looks actually. There is only a small window to charge an attack after rolling off the ledge.

03:42 Hammer
A bit too floaty. You can adjust your aim twice: once when beginning charge and again when releasing charge. While it does make aiming for the head much easier, I can't say that this is the better option on downed monsters.

07:42 Longsword?
You need at least a level 1 spirit gauge. At level 3 you get an extra downward slash after the cross slash. In terms of mobility, it's in between the Greatsword and Hammer. Damage wise, it seems to be able to rival the Hammer even with just level 1 spirit gauge. It feels however that it has close to no stopping power as the previous two. Definitely not worth the effort. At 12:41 the game or my PS4 decided to skip a second of recording.

12:54 Insect Glaive??
Just stick to regular vaulting.

13:54 Dual Blades...
The hunter can't even get back on the ledge.

I'm not comparing apples with apples here. I'm just using the sets that I have, they're not made for the express purpose of this test.
