Greetings fellow gamers! This is Gamer Guy (In a Suit) from the Echo Army YouTube channel! Today I am bringing you a review of the Survival Horror game, Monstrum. Monstrum was released on Steam back on May 20, 2015 by Publisher/Developer Team Junkfish.

(NOTE: This was a review from a game in my own Steam library, it was NOT provided by the Developer and/or Publisher)

The "Too Long, Didn't Watch" Review:

Great entry in the genre. Blend of Rogue-like and First-Person Horror is fantastic. 4/5 A bit pricey, but solid. Worth the $.

The "Meat & Potatoes" Review:

Monstrum is what happens when you take the First Person Survival Horror thing, do it right, then combine it with some cool rogue-like elements. Team Junkfish has really nailed it here. The ship you appear to be stuck in gets randomly generated for every play-through. There are some similarities of course, but it is definitely different each time. The best part of this mechanic though is the antagonists themselves. See, each time you restart this game, it could be one of 3 different monster-types trying to get you. Obviously, until you get to exploring, you have no way of knowing which and this could change your approach. THe gameplay is very easy and familiar to this type of game. Walk around, hide in cabinets/lockers when needed, run for your life occasionally, find stuff to solve puzzles (in the form of finding and managing an escape) and get the hell of this boat. If you enjoy the horror genre in PC gaming these days, it really doesn't get much better. The visuals are great, the sounds are fantastic, the atmosphere is superb. It's a touch pricey, but well worth it. There is a ton of replayability here. A gem among the numerous horror games out there. Do not let Monstrum pass you by. 4/5.

Happy Gaming!!!
