Moomba is Melbourne and Australia's largest free community festival and attracts up to 1 million people. We start at the Moomba Parade just past the finish line along Linlithgow Avenue in the Alexandra Gardens. Among the floats, some of which are designed by children are the following participants...

We then grabbed a map and a bite to eat and sat down to listen to musicians on the stage - Maracatu Estrela Do Mar which is an Afro-Brazilian percussion band and Seducaphones - an eight-piece Balkan brass band.

There were heaps of rides and games to play and we eventually ended up at Boxwars, a cardboard themed stall where you can create and customize your own set of weapons and armor made entirely of cardboard - Great fun for the kids.

After dinner in the city, we headed back to the Yarra River to watch the fireworks display and then called it a night.
