Seems like the control laws for this were indeed updated, although one still needs to proceed with utmost caution even without the direct control.
My thoughts on this is that to be particularly useful in combat TVC needs two engines with differential pitch and yaw nozzle control, and even of a greater importance is high thrust-to-weight ratio. Neither of that we have here, also no HMD with airspeed indication, so mastering TVC employment in a dogfight situation takes a while.
People tend to go into rhapsodies over the "difficulty" of handling the Tomcat, but this thing here can give the 'Cat a run for its money when it comes to getting used to it. Of course, TVC is not an actual feature of any live JF-17 out there, but on the other hand there is no reason why it couldn't be installed (after all, it was tested on a J-10).
Oh, and if mastering this is a breeze for you, try also knocking out every pitch gyro and switch the direct link on.
