Playthrough with Scorpion. I usually play on the default difficulty, which in this port is easy, but I changed it to normal. There isn't much of a difference between easy and normal from what I can tell. One thing I can tell is that it was made easier than the arcade version, the endurance rounds are still a pain, but Goro and Shang Tsung are easier to beat. MK on the Genesis is a great port -the most famous thing about it is that it had a code to turn on the blood and uncensor several of the fatalities, and the controls are vastly superior than the SNES version. Scorpion's fatality isn't censored with the blood code off -even though he sets his opponent on fire and reduces them to a skeleton. I guess as there's no blood that make it ok?

The Mega Drive Flashback HD was released by AtGames in 2017. It features lots of pre-loaded games, and not just Mega Drive titles -some Master System and Game Gear games are also included, along with some other non-SEGA system games. In some ways the console is better than the previous AtGames Mega Drive consoles, as it has HDMI output and better sound emulation. But it also has a ton of other issues:

1) The controllers it comes with are awful. They're both wireless controllers, but sometimes the controllers will just completely drop your inputs at random for a couple of seconds, making any of the faster-paced games unplayable. You can, thankfully, connect an original Mega Drive 6 button controller into the Flashback console, but even this has issues -I found that occasionally, the controls would lock up, such as the game acting like I was constantly holding down the block button in Mortal Kombat. You have to unplug the controller and plug it back in to get things working again.

2) The games can freeze. There are issues where the games will lock up for unknown reasons. Sometimes you can press the menu button to get out, but other times you have to switch the console off and on to fix it.

3) There are glitches which weren't present in the original Mega Drive games. This game has a glitch sometimes where the lifebars go partially off the screen on the second stage (doesn't happen in this playthrough).

4) Sometimes the sound can cut out for a couple of seconds, then come back on. It happens once in the credits of this playthrough.

5) There are frame rate issues on all of the games. Mortal Kombat seems ok, but some of the other games (especially some of the Sonics) run really poorly.

I would really recommend not getting the Mega Drive Flashback, and getting the Mega Drive Mini instead, it's much better.
