Playthrough with the Vampire Savior 2 version of Phobos, using the version of the game included on Capcom Fighting Collection. To select VS2 Phobos, highlight him at the character select screen and hold down the start button, then press any punch or kick button. The reason I picked VS2 Phobos is because he has normal jumps -his regular version has weird jumps I don't like where he floats around before landing.

Vampire Hunter 2 was a Japanese exclusive arcade game, released in August 1997. It removes Vampire Savior's four new characters -Jedah Dohma, B.B.Hood, Q-Bee and Lilith -and replaces them with Pyron, Phobos and Donovan. It also adds an ugly black square to the character select screen. It features recolored backgrounds from Vampire Savior, and features most of the gameplay systems from that game, which unfortunately includes the two life bars system I don't like. Individual character endings were removed, you get the same ending no matter who you're playing as.

I don't really understand the point of this game, or Vampire Savior 2. My understanding is Capcom couldn't fit all the characters they wanted into a single arcade board, so decided to release these sequels to appease players, I guess? They just seem a bit much for adding so little. And from what I've gathered, these games tend to get ignored competitively, everyone just plays the original Vampire Savior instead. At least the Saturn and PS1 ports featured all of the characters.

Compared to last week's Demitri playthrough, I had a much easier time beating this with Phobos. His beam moves are really good at pinning down the CPU, and his final guardian EX move is something a lot of opponents will fall for. The CPU difficulty is still horrible if you want to 1CC this and get all the hidden fights, but with Phobos it's not as hard as using any of the other characters, I found.

One thing I didn't realize is that this game removes the extra congratulations sequence Vampire Savior had. If you beat Oboro Bishamon in that game, you'd get a sequence featuring Anita, but it was cut from this version.

There is evidence that this game was going to be released outside of Japan, as an unused "Night Warriors 2" title screen was found within the game's data:

Another unused thing is an entire character: Lilith. It is possible to play as her via hacking, and the game is fully playable with her, she's just missing her voice clips:
