Happy Highlord Holidays! School wraps up today and we all head off on vacation, and what better way to celebrate than with a MASSIVE DIECAST MOSNTER OF A ROBOT.
Seriously. This sucker is checks off a lot of boxes for me. Heavy. Sharp. Pointy. Well painted. Articulated. Accessorized. Well packaged. The list can certainly go on.
You get what you pay for though, and these Motor Nuclear figures are not cheap. I knew I had to have him, and even I balked at the version with the appropriately sized diecast Red Hare (Lu Bu's trusty steed) in scale mecha. Gone are the days of five or six thousand yen diecast figures, that's for sure.
I have a lot of respect for these new- school Chinese designers and engineers that are studying the groundwork laid by a lot of the Japanese toy designers and taking it to a new level. Gone are the days of dubious grey market fan projects. I love seeing new designs wherever the inspiration may come from, and heroes of Three Kingdoms era China is certainly a goldmine for inspiration.

What's scary is Motor Nuclear is already teasing a new figure that's even bigger and bulkier than this guy (look for the Bull Demon King). I guess I'll have to start saving up for that one too, I guess.
On the other side of that price point, they've been showing off SD versions of their existing figures as well as plastic figures, in addition to actual plastic model kits, so there's still hopes for more economical mecha!

I got mine through ShowZ, who stock an insane amount of giant robot toys and have lots of nice photos of all the kits and figures they sell, and will probably help sell more of this guy than my ramblings ever will.
