After months of rumors and teasers, Motorola has announced the next generation of foldable Razr phones. The event took place in China, where the new products will go on sale first. Two models were released: the flagship Razr 40 Ultra with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, and a more affordable version of the Razr 40, which uses a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. They differ not only in terms of characteristics, but also in design.
The base Razr 40 also boasts a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, but with a slightly lower 144Hz refresh rate inside. The display is much more compact on the outside: it has a size of 1.5 inches (194 x 368 pixels), and offers display of basic information (clock, date), as well as work with messages.
The smartphone has retained its aluminum frame and IP52 waterproof rating, but it is slightly thicker (7.35 mm when unfolded and 15.8 mm when folded). The main camera at 64 MP (f/1.7, OIS) is complemented by an ultra-wide sensor at 13 MP (f/2.2). The front camera, as before, has a resolution of 32 MP.
The Razr 40 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, aided by 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The battery capacity here is even higher than that of the top model: 4200 mAh with the same fast wired charging of 30 W and wireless charging of up to 5 W. The smartphone is available in Sage Green, Vanilla Cream and Summer Lilac colors.
Both new products will go on sale in China from June 25. A separate event will be dedicated to the premiere on the global market.
