Sony Project Q | What You Need to Know About New Portable Console?

Recently, Sony officially announced that it is indeed working on a portable console called " Project Q ", revealing its design and some key specifications. The brand also confirmed that it will be a game streaming device rather than a full console, relying on Remote Play over Wi-Fi to stream games from the PS5 console.
The "Project Q" console requires users to have a PS5 console and be in close proximity or connected to the same Wi-Fi network to play the games. This aspect has confused many gamers as they doubt the target audience of this product. However, one potentially positive aspect could be the expected long battery life, given that the console does not run games. Unfortunately, a leak from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson suggests that the Project Q's battery life is estimated to be around 3-4 hours. This duration is comparable to the battery life of devices such as the Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch, which run games directly on the hardware.
The relatively short battery life of the Project Q can be attributed to several factors. One of the possible reasons is the presence of a small battery capacity. In addition, it is speculated that the console may have an OLED panel, which may contribute to higher power consumption. While IPS displays theoretically require more power due to constant backlighting, in practice OLED displays tend to consume more power due to the need to illuminate more pixels, especially when displaying bright content.
While the OLED panel hasn't been confirmed and is just a rumour, we do know that the device will sport an 8-inch FHD screen, likely with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, capable of playing games at 60 FPS.
