MSFS - Rio and Christ the Redeemer - upgrading PC or going XBOX?

No Music.. No Talking.. Rio and Christ the Redeemer... just more thoughts about MicroSoft Flight Simulator. Since I have basically played every version created since Sublogic 80's, I still find it the most amazing game on any gaming system. No other flight sim comes close to the World MSFS now offers.
that in mind, it takes an old coot some time to come around to change. started on early game consoles, may as well end on them.. I been on IBM machines since at least all of Microsofts "Windows" versions. Quick and Dirty Operating System (QDOS) has come a long way.
I usually change PC systems around the 4-5 year mark.. But I just cannot justify paying the scalper prices for a new GPU or a complete system while I still can get over 60FPS on high settings in MSFS on my old system, plus using my Quest 2 in VR Mode.
Heck, for the $500.00 MSRP now, at times, I can actually find a non scalper priced XBOX Series X system finally and still save 300-400 bucks over a new 3070 GPU, while flying in 4K at 30fps, which actually feels fine in this type game. and with XBOX game pass, they offer quite a few games, including new releases and exclusives for a low monthly subscription, some running 120 FPS.. not to mention you can add a keyboard and mouse and use a browser etc... and their graphics surpass the 1070 performance and more like 2070 equivalent.. which in all honesty is more than enough for me.
Unfortunately XBOX X/S does not have all the controller options in their MSFS as the PC Version has.. and that is a shame, especially seeing this is Microsoft's flagship.. My rudder pedals, throttle and stick, and my other yoke are not supported. I believe there is only two that are at the moment, Thrustmaster T-Flight and turtle beach velocity one.. No VR in the XBOX version either, or plans for it presently.
but anyways.. screw the scalpers and their pieces of silver they want to collect! I think I would quit adding PC games all together and go to a console before I bow to these sales tactics.. and with "exclusives" now stuck on consoles, why am I still buying PC Games? Games that been out on consoles for years?
That being said, these past few years, consoles had been scalped as well.. the Sony PS5 is still over double the MSRP.. and it don't even have MSFS! they can keep it! I guess supply and demand. I kind of blame the makers for not keeping up with demand.
Now don't get me wrong, over the years on Steam alone I have acquired over 500 games and do not regret most purchases. But the new age "Game Pass", like Xbox has for both PC and XBOX platforms sharing the titles, I would have been just paying a fraction of the cost to "rent" them. Plus, for the few titles I do like to play after a year or so, I can just purchase them and probably at a lower cost than their release price. I can probably count about 10 games I actually play on that 500+ game base regularly. I wish Steam would allow you to sell off your games to other Steam Users.. even if they took a small cut on the sale.. anyways.. just my opinion.. what is your opinion on it? is there any reasoning that makes the PC shine in games anymore? or just a money pit?
Remember.. My flight videos are how "not" to fly.. but still have fun.. I just put these up for me to look back on.. they are not always something people may like.. and I am "ok" with that.. Enjoy or not.. a thumbs down is as good as a thumbs up.. doesn't bother me one way or the other..:)
