MSi-Cougar Intel Core i3-3220 Hackintosh Running OS X 10.8.5
This is my first Hackintosh---let alone my first ground-up, custom-built computer, ever. It originally started off with an AGP-based PCChips P23G v1.0 with a Pentium 4 CPU (later a v3.0 board with a Core 2 Duo CPU), and was used primarily as a UT99 MonsterHunt server, and a secondary, dual-boot Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 machine.
It was running Mac OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion, but it also ran Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64-bit) even after the rebuild. In OS X, a few features were not working, like the WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0, and it freezes after waking up from sleep; However, it supported the MSi R7770 I placed in there, and other features seemed to have worked just fine, as well.
It was sold on eBay, for a grossly disappointing price. I should've listed it differently, or parted it out again, and sell the parts.
In this video, it is being tested with Batman: Arkham City (highest settings) and GarageBand.
Here are the system specs and features:
- MSi H67MA-S01 (B3) Intel LGA1155 H67 Military-Class II Logic Board w/OC Genie II
- Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz Ivy Bridge CPU
- 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-10600 Memory
- MSi Afterburner AMD Radeon R7770 1GB GDDR5 (Overclockable)
- Intel HD Graphics 2500 256MB+ Shared Memory
- Western Digital 1TB SATA HDD w/32MB CACHE (Win 7)
- Maxtor 250GB SATA HDD (OS X)
- USB 3.0
- Cougar Spike MicroATX Tower Case w/Cougar Exhaust Fan
- 450W Power Supply
- Cooler Master Blue LED Intake Fan
This machine ran Arkham City almost as well as---one of my former---Mac Pros with these specs:
- Intel Xeon W3520 Nehalem 2.66GHz Quad-Core CPU
- 16GB (4x4GB) PC3-8500 FB-DIMM Memory
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB GDDR5
- Original Apple Hitachi 640GB SATA HDD
The Mac Pro was almost four times as much as this Hackintosh, at the time. I'd still rather have the Mac Pro for several reasons other than gaming, though. :D
But anyways, enjoy! :D
