I've been playing World of Warcraft since early 2006, so it's been a part of my life for quite a while. I've decided to make an on-and-off Let's Play of the game, doing one zone at a time to experience the lore and the many stories of this huge MMORPG!
The Arathi Highlands are what remains of the ancient human kingdom of Arathor; these days known as the Kingdom of Stromgarde. They managed to stave off the scourge during the third war and survive, but the kingdom was small and weak, which lead to other forces being able to attack their capital, Stromgarde, and take over parts of it. These other forces are the Syndicate, a criminal organization of humans consisting of remenants of people from the former human kingdom of Alterac. But there's also a whole lot of ogres in the Arathi Highlands, ogres that have started to cooperate a bit with the local Witherbark troll tribe. There is also a bunch of mysterious rune circles with elementals; a mystery to be solved! But if that wasn't enough, the Horde is also pressing their presence into the zone trying to push their borders, and the Horde and the Alliance is duking it out in the battleground known as Arathi Basin!
