1,660We were talking for two weeks before we planned our first meeting. All our chats were about very simple stuff, but mostly about food as we're both massive foodies. At one point I told him about my socials, but he refused to check them, as he wanted to get to know the real me and not have any prejudices based on what I posted online (101 how to win brownie points🥹). He literally never flirted with me, and I'm not that person anyways when I don't know someone.
So going for our first meeting I genuinenly didn't know if I was meeting just a friend or going for a date. Flats or heels was the dillema I kept going over with my bestie @sakshish In the end I decided on flats, in the spirit of let's not aim too high and see where this ends up.
Entering the lobby of the Taj hotel where we met it turned into a bit of a cute bollywood scene. Sitting with his back towards me, I texted him that I reached as I was coming closer. He stood up, turned around and in wonder blurted out "whoa you're really beautiful"🤭 It was so cute, so genuine, without a hint of anything macho. Man scores brownie points again.
He did start flirting from that moment, and damn he got game when he gets into the game🫠 This was 6 years ago, and until this day he tells me everyday I'm beautiful. In exactiy his own cute, genuine, sweet way. He'a my #1 fan, supports me in everything I do, but makes it very clear he loves me for me. There are a million things I love about him, but mostly his unquestioned loyalty, curiousity about the world, relentless pursuit of excellence, and the kind of endless generousity you find in a Punjabi.
With the experience we both had with broken hearts it was inevitable we would have to work really hard to both heal, and do better in relationships. But I think that's exactly why we are concious of what we have. It's a forever love worth fighting for.
