People have been flooding my inbox, asking about my thoughts on the new version of the lightsaber, so here you go.

Since it's a product of fantasy science-fiction it's of course hard to tell exactly how the plasma, laser, or whatever it is works. But the presence of a guard is a very basic practical feature that applies to all kinds of swords and other weapons.

This one has a weakness, where the handle protrudes into a T-shape which emits the guards. An opponent's blade could cut right through it. However, it's still better than nothing.

What I'm wondering is, why not go for one of the lightsaber resistant materials, light Cortosis or Madalorian Iron? And what's with all the nerd rage? The new version actually looks better to me, aesthetically. But yeah, it's personal preference, so 100% subjective and relative.
