My Troubles with Replay Glitches in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
1I wanted to further illustrate the issues I've been having with this game's Replay system. It's unlike any other fighting game I've played (so far).
To vouch, for other game's with a Replay feature, I have experience In Street Fighter IV & 6, Skullgirls (the PC version has a Replay command line that can be enabled), Dragon Ball FighterZ, Guilty Gear STRIVE and Tekken 8. I also have Fightcade experience playing Vampire Savior, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, and more recently Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
And you know? Let's throw every Smash game I've played with Replay feature in here, too (Brawl, 4 and Ultimate).
Throughout ALL of those different games and the different ways they save Replays, I have not had the same issues with those games' Replays that didn't involve playing the wrong version or playing a dysfunctional mod, that I've had with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves' Replays within its SAME version.

For most of the time, this game runs back replays just fine.
But then on other times, it desyncs. Player inputs aren't read back probably, which can cause the characters of the match to do weird attacks in the wrong spots. This can happen on a Round-to-Round basis.
The top screen of this video is the recording of a Round I got while playing these matches out in real time during a big session. The bottom screen of this video is the recording of the replay of that same Round.
(I also had to accommodate the timing of both screens for my top recording acting up and dropping frames.)
Take note how, as soon as the actual match ends, the replay's inputs also stop. That's how the playback works. Without any further actions to finish the match, this can often lead to unintended Timeouts. From there, this can also potentially lead to the opposing player winning the replay compared to winning the actual match. This timeout caused my Marco to win the replay of this Round, but it was supposed to be the Mai winning via KO'ing my Marco.

SNK needs to fix this one way or another. As of this publish, they know it's a problem but they're still investigating things.
But even before and after this is solved, I should just continue to record these matches WHILE I'm playing them out (as I've done in the home console versions of Skullgirls). Other details playing these matches back are also missing that I kinda don't like, such as no shown Wolf Tags or Ranks.
