Mysterious Ghostly Lights visible in March | What are they ?
In this video we talk about the mysterious and ghostly Zodiacal Lights that are visible in spring and autumn in Northern Hemisphere. Currently they are visible in the western skies after the evening twilight disappears. They are visible from 9th March to early April.
Zodiacal lights are formed by the interplanetary dust and gases that orbits our host star sun. They are illuminated by sunlight and glow, their glow extends from Inner Solar System to Jupiter's Orbit. From where this interplanetary dust comes from is still a mystery, but there are some theories- Some scientists say that they come from Asteroid Belt, when two or more belt asteroids collide they release these dust particles, others suggest that they come from periodic and non periodic comets whereas some scientists suggest on the basis of data provided by Juno spacecraft that these dust particles that cause Zodiacal Lights come from Mars.
Zodiacal Lights are named after the Zodiacal Constellations because it appears in the Ecliptic plane of the solar System where all the Zodiacal Constellations lie (like Capricorn, Leo, Sagittarius etc).
