In Shadow Man on the Nintendo 64, we're transported to a world between life and death. A normal human by day, by night the guardian against demons, serial killers, and the ultimate evil from the realm of the dead. Sounds like a nightmare? Maybe. Sounds like the coolest gothic action-adventure of its time? Definitely.
We sneak, fight, and jump our way through endless levels so dark that you almost think the fog is its own final boss. And while we cast voodoo spells and handle firearms, Shadow Man shows that the N64 could also be grown-up, dirty, and truly scary.
Today—thanks to Nintendo Switch Online—we can relive this classic without having to blow on the old cartridge. And Tromunity accompanies me as we gaze into the abyss... and hopefully, the abyss won't look back. 👀
