Tonic Trouble was developed Ubi Soft Montreal in parallel to Rayman 2. The game was published on the Nintendo 64 and on windows by Ubi Soft in 1999. In 2000 there was also a version of the game released on de GameBoy Colo. However this version was developed by RFX Interactive insteda of Ubi Soft montreal whom at the time were working on their breaktrough title Tom Clancy's splinter cell.
